These photos were taken Saturday at American Martyrs Church in Manhattan Beach and Red Car Brewery & Restaurant in Torrance as friends and family gathered to celebrate the life of Deborah Walls.
Obituary – Deborah Walls (1956 – 2024) Deborah Lynn Walls was born on March 13, 1956 in Wyandotte, Michigan. Born to Donald Francis and Marilyn Yvonne Coffman, Deborah was the eldest of eight children. Deborah joined Our Heavenly Father on Monday, May 27, 2024 at the age of 68.
Even though Deborah was removed from her home at an early age and put into the foster system, she was emancipated as a minor at the age of 16 and maintained her deep love for family.
In Deborah’s early years she had numerous jobs, including being a model; which allowed her to do some world travel.
As Deborah loved to go hunting and fishing, it was not a difficult transition for her to become the owner of a fishing/hunting lodge in Michigan, which she ran from spring through fall. When winter arrived she would head to Lake Tahoe, in California, where she worked part time so she could ski in the Sierra Nevada. When winter ended, she would return to her lodge in Michigan. It was during one of these winter trips to Lake Tahoe, in 1991, that she met her future husband; Philip.
There is no question that Deborah was an animal lover, having owned numerous dogs, cats, a goat, and Russell, a cockatiel that lived to be 34 years old.
Deborah lived an active lifestyle. She loved to golf, dance, jazzercise, walk in the great outdoors, and travel, having visited 49 of our 50 states, never making it to Alaska.
Deborah and Philip were married on May 29, 1993 at American Martyrs Church by Monsignor John Barry. Her passing was just two days short of their 31st wedding anniversary.
Anyone that spent any amount of time at Phil and Deborah’s home knows that Deborah loved to cook for her friends and guests; and she really loved to decorate for Christmas and Halloween. After marrying Philip, her hobbies began including cruising with Philip on his Harley-Davidsons or in his Camaro.
Deborah was preceded in death by her parents Marilyn Yvonne and Donald Francis Coffman, and siblings Ronald, David, Judy, Dawn and Donnie.
Deborah is survived by her husband Philip, siblings Elaine (Dennis), and Larry, and dozens of nieces, nephews, dozens of grand-nieces/grand-nephews and the countless number of friends she made here in California.
Rest in Peace, Deborah.
A funeral Mass was held at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Manhattan Beach, followed by a Celebration of Life at Red Car Brewery & Restaurant in Torrance.
